What are good flatwork excercises for my green 6 year old thoroughbred?
Written by admin on April 4, 2010 – 8:49 pm -I just recently bought a 6 year old Thoroughbred. She is kind of green from not being worked and sitting in a pasture for the past 2 months! She needs to learn how to relax, when i ask her for the trot she is very speedy but then she will relax. She also doesnt bend around her corners. I wil eventually want to start jumping her I just want to get her prepared for that. Do you have any “tricks” or exercises that may help? Thanks!!

For Sale – 5 year old Warmblood Gelding. $3,800. Nike January 2009.

Nike is a 2004 Warmblood (Percheron / Thoroughbred) Gelding. He stands at 15.3 hands. Nike is a wonderful mover for dressage and has gotten great comments from my coach for his natual ability and movement. Currently Nike is schooling 2’6″ with ease. He does have a few show miles from last summer in 3-day eventing. He was awesome and finished 2nd in dressage and clear both stadium and cross country. Nike is a wonderfully consistant guy with a very calm (not spooky) disposition. He is great in new place, in busy warm up arenas or by himself. Nike has been hauled alot and is great to load, clip, bath, load, tie, etc. Nike is also a really nice trail horse and has been used alot for poning other horses. He is really good with my dogs, tarps, water, logs, trees, brush, and other obsticles. Nike has carried a small pack and is great with the english or western saddle. Nike is up to date on everything and is currently rode barefoot. Nike weighs about 1,200 lbs and is definately light for a draft breed, however he is definately big enough for almost any size rider. Nike has a ton of personality and has been great to ride even with time off. He is on the calm side, but because of his age I would still recommend him for an intermediate. Nike has a ton of potential to take his new rider anywhere they want to go. I am located in Nampa, Idaho. Please call Michelle at 208-899-5992 for more information. I am asking $3,800 for Nike.
