Question on horse behavior?
Written by admin on March 15, 2010 – 10:00 pm -Do you think all horses (meaning all breeds etc,) are born with the same potential to have the same awareness in a natural environment?
I have heard that arabians for example are more aware than say, a big warm blood. Do you think this is true and if so why? Like if arabians evolved in hot climates (hence why they are called hot bloods), do you think that had an effect on their “awareness” vs. the cold environment of the cold blooded horse?
I was asking, do you think the regions they evolved in have to do with their awareness.
By awareness I mean what some people call “hot”.

My horse recently got these weird sores, can anyone tell me how to get rid of them?
Written by admin on March 9, 2010 – 9:19 pm -I have an unknown mix of some warm blood horses named Griffin. He started getting little bumps on him about a week ago that turned quickly into pussy scabby hard knobs on his neck, belly, under his mane, and in his tail. I’m really concerned about the ones in his tail, they are rather large (the crust balls are about the size of a chocolate colored raisin) and when I try to break them up and get them out of his tail he thoroughly enjoys it, but it also pulls out huge chunks of tail hair. I love my horses full tail, it’s so easy to braid for shows! I’m afraid that he’ll start rubbing it (I think there may be evidence that he already has) all out.
The only two culprits I can think of are that it is some allergic reaction, or that there are some really nasty bugs out there. I don’t really see how the bugs could make it through all of his tail hair to his tail bone though. I did just start giving him some new feed, of course just small hand-fulls to begin with to get him used to it but that was about the time that these bumps started appearing. It was also around the time that the weather warmed up and the bugs started showing up.
He’s not the only horse that has it in his pasture, there is another mare who has gotten the same kind of scabby things but there is also another gelding who has not a bump on him. The gelding who has no bumps is from this area, the other two are from further south.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated!!

Artistic Epiphany 2003 Dutch Warmblood
Written by admin on July 8, 2009 – 5:40 pm -
17.2h pinto Dutch Warmblood by Raine Dance/ Concorde/ Voltaire.
Jumping video @ http://www.huntington.cc/details-pippa.html
Artistic Epiphany (Pippa) is a lovely 2003, 17.2h black and white pinto Dutch warmblood mare by imported KWPN stallion Raine Dance by Concorde/ Voltaire. Super conformation, reaching gaits and very animated. Pippa is smart, willing and full of personality. She is tall but light and soft in the bridle. She is schooling 1st level with show experience this season and scores in the 60′s. She has free jumped 3′+, cross rails under saddle and is very brave & scopey. In professional dressage training daily and working well at leg yields, shoulder-in and collected work. Looking for a good, loving show home and not to be kept as a pasture ornament. She is sound with no health or behavior issues.
Pippa had a beautiful black colt last year. Easily in foal with no complications. See him listed on this site as “Bravado”.
With world class jumping and dressage bloodlines Pippa would make a wonderful open jumper prospect or eventing mount. She is versatile and could excel and any discipline.
$25,000
